Biographies of Senior Management Members
Michael L. Lee, P.Eng.
President and Interim CEO
Mr. Lee is a co-founder of AOS. He is a Company director. Mr. Lee has 29 years of experience in the oil and natural gas sector, primarily in the exploitation and reservoir engineering disciplines, having worked for senior producers such as Encana, Burlington Resources Canada Ltd., Anderson Exploration and Amoco Canada Petroleum Company Ltd. His expertise comprises exploration and development planning as well as large capital project execution and management. Mr. Lee holds Mechanical Engineering and General Science degrees from the University of Alberta.
Andrew Constantinidis, MBA
Vice President, Finance and Business Development
Mr. Constantinidis has 27 years of experience in the energy, banking and technology sectors. Prior to joining AOS in November 2010 he accumulated international and domestic executive-level experience in finance, planning, project development and operations. Most recently he was Vice President and CFO of Calgary-based Eurogas Corporation. Mr. Constantinidis’s international experience includes positions at Deutsche Bank, Citibank and ExxonMobil, and his domestic experience includes a position at IBM. He holds a B.Comm. (Accounting) degree from the University of Calgary and an MBA from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Dr. Claes T.S. Palmgren, P.Eng.
Vice President, Engineering – Resource Development
Dr. Palmgren has over 21 years of experience in applied research, technology pilot-program development, and pilot and commercial-scale field applications of in-situ heavy oil and bitumen recovery technologies. Prior to joining AOS in 2010, Dr. Palmgren was Vice-President, Reservoir Engineering at Oilsands Quest Inc., where he led the design and early-stage implementation of a bitumen production test. He was also Manager, Reservoir Process Technology at StatoilHydro Canada Ltd. (formerly North American Oil Sands Corp.) and also worked as the lead reservoir engineer at the Mackay River SAGD project for Petro-Canada. Dr. Palmgren is a graduate of Delft University of Technology’s Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering in the Netherlands, where he received his M.Sc. in 1987 and his Ph.D. in 1992.
Ian Walker, P. Geol.
Vice President, Exploration
Mr. Walker has over 26 years of industry experience, including 20 as a petroleum geologist in exploration and production, plus prior field experience operating oil batteries and a solution gas facility. He has drilled more than 900 wells in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. Prior to joining AOS, he held senior exploration positions with Vermilion Resources and Renaissance Energy, following which he consulted for a series of start-up and junior companies. Mr. Walker holds a B.Sc. (Geology) from the University of Alberta and a petroleum engineering technology diploma from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT).
