Wider Economic Benefits

The Clearwater Project will deliver sustainable economic benefits at the municipal, provincial and federal levels for decades to come. This will include Crown royalties paid on every barrel of bitumen produced, municipal property taxes, provincial corporate income taxes and federal corporate income taxes, as well as the personal income taxes paid by our employees and contractors.

With an expected operating life of 30 years or longer, the Clearwater Project will generate fiscal benefits expected to add up to well over $1 billion from Phase I (and much more from the commercial phase), which will be available to public authorities to spend on behalf of Albertans over a multi-decade period.
