Minimizing Noise

The Clearwater Project will operate with little noise. Studies indicate that noise generated by our operations will be below allowable provincial levels. The average ambient sound level for project operations is 35 decibals (dBA), 5 dBA below the ERCB’s night-time permissible level of 40 dBA. Sound at 35 dBA is comparable to being about 1 metre from a very quiet room fan operating at low speed. When necessary, AOS will schedule non-routine activities during construction and operations at the project site in such a way as to mitigate noise impact.
